Esther Unitt graduated from the University of Nottigham School of Medcine in 1995, and underwent higher specialist training in gastroenterology and general medicine in East Anglia. Most of her postgraduate training took place at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, including several years on the Liver Unit where her research in hepatology (liver disease) led to the award of a Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Nottingham in 2007.
Dr Unitt obtained MRCP (UK) in 1998 and was elected FRCP in 2011.
She was appointed as a Consultant Gastroenterologist with a special interest in Hepatology (liver disease) at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust in January 2007. Dr Unitt is the current Clinical Lead for the Department of Gastroenterology, Clinical Lead for Hepatology and Clinical Lead for the Alcohol Care Team for the City of Coventry.
Dr Unitt can be seen through the NHS or privately, either self-funding or with health insurance. Dr Unitt is a recognised provider for BUPA, AXA Health, Vitality Health, WPA and Aviva.
If your GP is willing to refer you as an NHS patient, appointments at University Hospital, Coventry are accessed through the ‘Choose and Book’ system which is designed to offer the earliest appointment at a date and time to suit you. However, ‘Choose and Book’ does not extend to allowing you to choose the consultant you want to see.
Dr Unitt offers personal private appointments at The Meriden Hospital, Coventry’s only private hospital, which is located within the grounds of University Hospital.
